Our Story

Jarapa source, manufacture and wholesale recycled homewares including recycled glassware, recycled cotton rugs, Spanish ceramics, Moroccan baskets and recycled glass lamp bases. All recycled glassware is NOT the same; our glassware is all 100% recycled, the paints they are coloured with are plant based, some are organic, and our main glass supplier complies with all Kyoto protocol aspects, and International treaties that commit to reducing greenhouse gases. Beware cheap imitations!

Our Eco Credentials

At Jarapa, our commitment to sustainability extends beyond our eco-friendly products. We strive to minimise our environmental impact across our entire supply chain. Here’s how we do it:

Sourcing and Transportation

  • Local Sourcing: We source our products from the UK or EU to reduce product miles and lower our carbon footprint.
  • Eco-friendly Shipping: Whenever possible, we import our products via train or sea, minimising road transportation.

Employee Practices

  • Eco-conscious Commuting: None of our employees commute more than 7.5 miles to our headquarters, reducing travel emissions.
  • Green Warehouse: We are continually improving our warehouse to enhance its eco-friendliness. This includes installing LED low-energy lights that are motion sensor-activated in suitable areas.

Packaging

  • Reuse and Recycling: We reuse all packaging materials received, including pallet wrap. This practice extends the life of packaging materials and reduces waste.
  • Local Recycling: We collect and shred cardboard from other local businesses for packaging, preventing it from ending up in landfill. Over 75% of our wholesale packaging materials are reused.
  • Sustainable Materials: We choose environmentally friendly options such as paper packing tape, 30% recycled pallet wrap, and recyclable air pillows.
  • Recycled Paper: All necessary paperwork is printed on recycled paper.

Office Practices

  • Eco-friendly Products: We use "Smol" eco-friendly cleaning products both at work and home.
  • Sustainable Refreshments: Our tea bags are plastic-free and biodegradable, and we use Fairtrade coffee.

Plastic Recycling

  • LDPE Plastics: Our pallet wrap and air pillows are made from type 4 LDPE plastic and contain 30% post-consumer waste (PCW). Many LDPE plastics are accepted through local kerbside recycling programmes or can be recycled at large supermarkets.
