Eco-Friendly Candles That Are Kind to Your Home and the Planet
There's nothing quite like the soft glow and gentle fragrance of a candle to make a house feel like home. But not all candles are created equal. Many mass-produced candles are made from paraffin wax, poured into single-use containers and wrapped in plastic, none of which is especially good for the planet. That's why more and more people are switching to eco-friendly candles: a cleaner, greener way to enjoy the ritual you love.
At Jarapa, sustainability runs through everything we make, and our hand-poured candles are no exception. Here's what makes an eco-friendly candle different, and why ours have quickly become a customer favourite.
Hand-Poured Natural Plant Wax Candles in Recycled Glass
Each of our eco-friendly candles is hand poured right here in the UK using an ethically sourced natural plant wax. They're vegan and plastic free, with a generous 30-hour burn time so you get plenty of cosy evenings from every candle.
The candle sits inside a 350ml textured tumbler made from 100% recycled glass, with the glass itself crafted in Spain. At 10cm tall and 9cm in diameter, it's a reassuringly solid piece that looks as good unlit on a shelf as it does glowing on a windowsill. Because the glass is recycled, each tumbler carries subtle, one-of-a-kind character.
Three Beautiful Fragrances
Our candles come in three carefully chosen scents, each in its own coloured recycled-glass jar:
- Sea Salt - fresh and clean, in a blue jar.
- Frankincense & Shiso - warm and aromatic, in a pink jar.
- Lime Basil & Mandarin - bright and zesty, in a Prussian blue jar.
Can't choose just one? There's also a mixed set of six, two of each fragrance, which makes a lovely way to enjoy the full range or to share with friends and family.
A Candle With a Second Life
One of the things we love most about these candles is what happens once the wax has gone. Rather than heading to the bin, the recycled glass tumbler can be washed out and given a whole new purpose. As a tea light holder, a little vase, a make-up brush pot, or simply a stylish storage jar. It's sustainability that keeps on giving, long after the last flame.
To reuse yours, simply handwash the empty glass with a damp, soft, non-abrasive cloth once the candle is finished.
How to Get the Best From Your Candle
To enjoy your candle safely and make it last, always place it on a level, heat-resistant surface, out of reach of children and pets. Keep it away from draughts and anything flammable, never leave a lit candle unattended, and don't move it while it's burning. A little care means a cleaner, longer, more even burn every time.
