HOW TO PICK THE PERFECT LAMPSHADE

The right lampshade can completely transform a lamp, changing both its appearance and the quality of light it gives. Whether you're replacing an old shade or styling a new lamp base, this guide will help you find the perfect fit.

How to Measure a Lampshade

Lampshade sizes are measured at the widest part of the shade diameter. For a drum lampshade, the top and bottom measurements are the same size. Our other shaped lampshades should all be measured from the bottom as shown in the diagram as this is the widest part of the shade.

How to Choose the Right Shape Lampshade

All our plain coloured and natural fabric shades are available as drums, french drums, retros and coolies. Velvet lampshades are available as drums and french drums, whilst our other patterned shades are available just as drums.

French Drum Shades

An elegant, softer twist on the modern drum silhouette.

Best for:

· Both traditional and contemporary homes

· Decorative or statement lamps

· Creating a softer, more refined look than a standard drum shade

Still unsure? French Drum shades are our most versatile shape and suit the widest range of lamp bases and interior styles, making it a favourite for both traditional and modern homes.

What Size Lampshade Do I Need?

· The height of the lampshade should be approximately two-thirds the height of the lamp base (excluding the bulb holder).

· The shade should be wider than the widest part of the lamp base.

· As a guide, the shade diameter should usually be around twice the width of the lamp base.

What Size Lampshade do I Need for a Floor Lamp

Our Jarron and Everest floor lamps are both tall and narrow, meaning they need much larger shades which have diameters of about 16” to 20”.

For our 126cm Jarron Floor Lamps, we recommend our 18” shades. For our 106cm Everest lamps, we recommend our 16” shades.
